How to start an LLC in Mississippi

1. Choose your business name

2. Designate an organizer
Your Certificate of Formation must be signed by an organizer - this can be you, another member, or your formation provider. The organizer is responsible for submitting the filing but does not have to be involved in long‐term management.3. Appoint a registered agent
Mississippi requires LLCs to maintain a registered agent with a physical street address in the state. P.O. Boxes are not permitted. Your registered agent must be available during regular business hours to receive legal and state correspondence on behalf of your Mississippi LLC.
4. Determine your management structure
Decide whether your LLC will be member‐managed or manager‐managed. Clearly outline responsibilities, voting rights, and decision workflows in your operating agreement.5. Create an operating agreement (recommended)
