How to start an LLC in North Dakota
There are six primary steps involved when you start an LLC in North Dakota. You can complete them independently or work with a trusted provider. 1. Choose your business name
Pick a unique name that meets North Dakota’s naming requirements and includes an appropriate LLC designator (such as “LLC” or “L.L.C.”). Before moving forward, verify availability through a North Dakota LLC search using the Secretary of State’s business database.
2. Designate an organizer
Your Articles of Organization must be signed by an organizer. This person can be you, another member, or a formation service. The organizer authorizes the filing but is not required to be an owner or future manager of the business.3. Appoint a registered agent
North Dakota requires all LLCs to maintain a registered agent with a physical street address in the state. P.O. Boxes are not accepted. Your registered agent must be available during normal business hours to receive legal and official correspondence on behalf of your company.
4. Choose your management and ownership structure
